September 19 2013 Problems at the
Range
Most of the following pictures were taken on Thursday,
September 19, 2013. This is not the first time we have had problems with IDIOTS
coming to the range and damaging items. Please review the following pictures and
then read the additional material at the end of the page.
Look closely! What's missing?
This is what the yard markers look like now
Some "super marksman" SHOT them down
Look for the bullet holes
This was the 5 yard marker. Notice the bullet holes
The 7 yard marker
Notice the bullet tracks running from center to the upper right
The ten yard marker. The bullet track is front center
Look at bullet tracks from lower left corner toward upper right corner
Thank goodness this person wasn't a
good shot. Look at the length of the track
Sign posts are not all they shoot. This is the remnant from a watermelon
Apparently they thought they could hit this stuff too. There is a bullet hole in
the Advil bottle (white)
Why should we put them back up for some idiot to shoot them down again?
May 28, 2012 An idiot rolled the brand new
barrel from the parking lot to
the range
which allowed it to get "shot up"
Not much doubt about what they were doing
Immediately prior to the first Handgun
Competition, someone shot the yard marker signs that were put in place for that
competition. The signs were subsequently removed. Some people coming to the
range, and it's likely very few, are doing these things. If you are a "walk
in" or a "key holder", this is going to affect you in the long term.
If you know who did this and would like to tell the Range Committee
Chairperson their name, send an email to
RangeChair@AmericanLegionPost48Chesnee.com or a letter to the below address
and it will be handled confidentially.
There is, currently, a $25 reward leading to the name(s) of the person or people
who did this. If you would like to contribute to this reward amount, then you
may mail a check to:

Those of us who work at the range (for which we receive NO pay) are
tired of this kind of behavior. There are very few alternatives open to us
concerning the range. Please be aware that these issues are being discussed by
the Post Executive Committee.
Added 10/11/2013: More problems have recently happened. While
I (the webmaster) was setting up for a party at the Post building on Friday,
September 29, 2013 in the late afternoon, a member of the Post was coming out
from shooting on the range. He saw me and asked me if I had seen the latest back
at the range. I said that I had not been back there since Thursday morning. He
walked back to the range and brought me what you see below:
This shell was attached to the fence by a piece of wire wrapping
around the base
of the shell with the end of the shell facing
toward the shed.
The person that
found this knew that since the shell had been
struck by bullets, it was
dangerous. He cut the powder and the
shot out of the shell and discarded it.
This shell was intact when
he removed it from the wire. Now, the only danger is
the primer going off.
This shell was attached to the fence by a piece of wire wrapping
around the base
of the shell with the end of the shell facing
toward the shed.
Is there any doubt what this idiot was attempting to do?
Fortunately, their aim
was insufficient to hit the primer
with a bullet. Think about what makes a
rocket fly. The shot
in this shell has enough weight to force the casing to move
toward the shed. We just don't know how fast it would go.
This kind of stupidity has gone on for a while
at this range. Because it is unsupervised, people do things like this. Basically, if the stupidity and vandalism continues, this
range will likely be closed. YOU need to report any acts like this that you see.
Contact information is seen above.
The above is on behalf of the Post Range Committee.
